ADVANCED COURSE ON SURGICAL TECHNIQUES IN PERITONEAL ONCOLOGY

On December 13th, the “Advanced Course on Surgical Techniques in Peritoneal Oncology” was held at the Faculty of Medicine (Autonomous University of Madrid) with the collaboration of the Jiménez Diaz Foundation and the Spanish Group of Peritoneal Oncologic Surgery.

The course directors were: Dr. Álvaro Arjona Sánchez (H.U. Reina Sofía- Córdoba) and Dr. Damián García Olmo (H.U. Fundación Jiménez Díaz- Madrid).

The training was conducted by the following doctors: Dr. Álvaro Arjona Sánchez, Dr. Isabel Prieto (H.U. La Paz – Madrid), Dr. Vanessa Concepción (H.U. Ntra. Sra. De la Candelaria – Tenerife), Dr. Rafael Morales (H.U. Son Espases – Mallorca), Dr. Pedro Villarejo (H.U. Fundación Jiménez Díaz – Madrid) and Dr. Ismael Guijo (H.U. Fundación Jiménez Díaz – Madrid).

In the practical session, our Argon Plasma Surgical Dissector, PLASMAJET, was used so that attendees could see how easy it is to use, how the procedure improves the vaporization of implants, and the advantages of working with an instrument that does not touch the tissue (No Touch). This device, through which no electric current passes through the patient, has demonstrated its low thermal penetration into the tissues and its safety on nearby structures since it keeps the handle completely cold.
